Coleman - 2 YEARS OLD!

It's hard to believe that it's been 2 years since we brought our precious Coleman home from the hospital. It's amazing to realize all of the changes that have taken place since he was born too!

We are so blessed to have Coleman. He is an active, bright, spunky little boy. He has a cute personality (we call him our little "ham"). He has a great sense of humor, a wonderful memory, and makes us laugh each day. Sometimes before Justin and I go to bed at night, we reminisce about all the funny things he said or did that day (or has done) and we find ourselves laughing and telling each other how much we love our little guy. I'm so thankful for blogging about his milestones so we have them to look back on and remember the funny things he did or said.

Coleman is talking up a STORM! He has a great vocabulary and has begun to put 3-4 word sentences together. The other morning we were playing with his race cars and he looked at me and said "Harley ate cracker mema (grandmom) and grandads house.....silly Harley". Then he laughed. He remembered this from about 3 weeks prior when we had visited my parents. Apparently he just had to share it with me that morning - too cute! I love that I can have a conversation with him (but I guess I've been doing that since he was an infant), and I love that he can tell me how he's feeling (most of the time).
 Showing off his "muscles"!

While having this new vocabulary is amazing, we are starting to miss his "made up" words for different things. Coleman used to call milk, "neh"...which for a while sounded like "no" so we were really confused (so thankful for sign language and teaching him the sign for milk or I would have been in trouble!). We now call 'milk' by it's correct name. My parents dog, Kodiak, has been given the name "deko" (think Kody backwards) - we have now unofficially renamed him deko because it's just too cute! Coleman knows how to say "thank you" which sounds like "babo", but since we always say 'you're welcome' after, he has taken it upon himself to just say "thank you welcome" each time he receives something. Coleman still has a precious sound for the word 'swing'...I wish I could type out what it sounds like, but it wont do it justice. I will be sad the day we actually say the word 'swing'.

Coleman loves anything BOY related. He loves rocks, dirt, sticks, sand, mud, playing in the hose, outdoor activities, tons of sports (and is awesome at throwing and kicking a ball - his daddy taught him well). He loves trucks, tractors, bus', cars, boats, and airplanes. Lately he has been into construction machines like bulldozer, bobcats, excavators, dump trucks, etc. and will tell you the specific name if he sees it on a drive somewhere. There is a new store going up right near our house and they have some of the big equipment out. We drove past the other day and Coleman shouted "Excavator! Bull dozer!", then when we drove past later that day he said "roller!" because they had added a new machine....oh how I love this child!

One thing I love most about Coleman is that even though he loves all these BOY things, he still has a sensitive side to him. He will pick up any stuffed animal he has, give it a kiss and a hug, and put it back down. He even does this with stuffed animals at different stores to tell them "bye bye" before we leave. We are working on Coleman being more adventurous - he is a bit scared of the unknown, but once he has tried something and knows everything is okay and he's fine, he is fine. We just need to get past the "unsure" stage.
 Big Boy Swing!

Coleman loves his little brother (most of the time). We are very lucky that Coleman has adjusted so well to Brekan. I think a lot of that has to do with all the prepping we did with him before his arrival, but he really does a good job of helping with Brekan and looking out for him. He really doesn't care to hold him that much, but if someone else is holding him or looking at him in the car seat, Coleman has to be right here to make sure Brekan is okay. He will often walk past Brekan, stop, go back, give him a hug and kiss, then go back to whatever he was doing and I just love that!

 Brother Love!

We are so blessed to have Coleman in our lives. He brings us so much joy, smiles, laughter, and is great at testing our patience....but we LOVE him even more because of it.

Brekan 3 and 4 months!

My biggest apologies to Brekan for not taking the time last month to blog about all his new tricks...so he gets months 3 and 4 combined into one post.
Our Little B isn't so little anymore! He is growing like a weed, has the chubbiest cheeks and thighs, and the most adorable smile! At his 4 month check up today he weighed 18.6 pounds (96 %), was 25.5 inches (66 %), and has a 17 inch head circumference (78 %).

 3 months!

4 months!

We are so blessed that Brekan is an "easy" baby. He really doesn't get upset unless he need to burp, is hungry, or gets scared by Harley barking unexpectedly or by his daddy blowing on his back! However, we have noticed that this little guy doesn't sleep in the car very well. He will take shorter naps, but not long ones (bummer!).

Brekan now sleeps through the night (which he has been doing since a short time after my 2 month blog post on him). He goes to bed around 8/8:30 and is up around 7....YAY!

Brekan enjoys standing most of the time. He does okay on his back, but he would rather sit up or stand. It makes him so happy and he loves to look around!

Brekan is ALMOST rolling from back to tummy - he can get all the way on his side, but then stops to suck on his hand. He LOVES to suck on his thumb (which mommy doesn't care for at all!). He is doing okay with tummy time - he's not that great at pushing himself up yet, but that is probably my fault for not putting him on his stomach enough. Poor baby, I feel like he doesn't get enough attention from me because I'm having to play with Coleman too (mommy guilt story for another post, this is something I'm struggling with a lot!).

Brekan LOVES his little rooster toy, and as of yesterday, he loves his Sophie Giraffe (Thanks Uncle Cory and Aunt Tracey!). Both of these squeak which he thinks is really cool, and he's now starting to put his toys in his mouth. He love to look at himself in the mirror and laugh.

Bathtime is another favorite of Little B. He has recently discovered how to splash and kick so bath time is much more exciting now.

B's newest talent is that he has found his voice - a high pitch squeal to bless our home with and we love it! Sometimes it sounds like he's upset, but if you watch him, he's busy smiling while he's doing it. So precious! He discovered his voice at my parents house at the beginning of June while visiting my grandmom. This was Brekan's first time meeting his great grandmom and I'm so glad they got to spend a whole week together!

For the last 2 months Justin has enjoyed doing his cool "trick" with Brekan. He did this with Coleman when he was the same age (well, probably a little older), but since Brekan is baby #2 he thought he'd try a little earlier, and we have another strong baby on our hands and a happy daddy that he can scare people with his clever trick!

He loves his big brother and enjoys watching everything he does too. Coleman has gone from calling him "de-teh" to what now sounds like "Drekan" hehe. Sometimes he can actually say 'Brekan' which is fun too!
