FINALLY! A post about Leyton! It's been since December 2013 when I did my "year in review" that I haven't posted anything. Well, things were busy. Growing a baby and having a tough pregnancy (physically draining with hip pain issues), taking care of 2 toddlers, getting the house ready to put up for sale, having a baby, selling the house 4 days after having a baby, moving out in 60 days after that, buying land to build a new house, packing/unpacking/storage units, moving in with my in laws on memorial day, summer fun, breaking ground on our new home in July, taking care of newborn to now baby and 2 busy boys, and now the fall season where I've been pretty much doing it all on my own since end of August! So I think that qualifies me for not having a lot of time to make blogposts eventhough I have a list on my phone of ideas on what to blog about and have been keep track of Mr. Leyton's milestones. Poor baby is going to look back at his mommy's blog and say "you totally forgot about me!!" I promise buddy, I didn't, it's just been super stressful! But here it is, labor/delivery up to 8 month post just for you!!
Leyton David Wendzel was born on March 21, 2014 at 5:33pm weighing in as my smallest boy at 6lb 15 oz and 20.5" long. His birth story is a bit of a mixture between Coleman's and Brekan's :) While I tried with everything in my power to have another all natural birth, it just didn't happen with Leyton. I was induced at 40 weeks because he was "measuring small" and they were concerned about hydronephrosis in his kidneys (larger kidneys than "normal). While Justin and I weren't at all concerned about this, as it's fairly common and usually undetected unless you have an ultrasound past 20 weeks, the Dr.'s felt it best to go ahead and induce. I started pitocin, they broke my water, and after 4-5 hrs I just couldn't take it anymore and got an epidural. Not even an hour after the epidural was in I was ready to push and because I had a cold at the time and was coughing tons we really thought I was just going to cough out the baby :) Anyway, 4-5 contractions/pushes and Leyton David was born. There were some scary complications after he was born that we dealt with (me almost needing to go to an OR and having a blood transfusion) but we were blessed with an amazing Dr. and also the high-risk ob Dr. happened to be there at the same time who came in and took care of everything and no blood transfusion was needed or or for me. It was a very rare complication to have and doesn't happen often so we were thankful that the high risk OB was there to lend a hand (no pun intended lol). It was scary though, and I did loose quite a bit of blood, but mommy and baby were ok and that's what matters!
Leyton's name was chosen because, well, we liked it! We had 3 top name choices and this one won :) We played around with the spelling and liked this one best. We picked David as his middle name after Justin's dad :) All of our boys have a family name as their middle name. Of course, we continued with the theme of the 'n' ending on the names. The nick names he has since been given are "leyton-bug" by mommy, buh-buhs, leytoni, and I sometimes just like to call him Leyton David cuz it's cute!
Life adjusting to 3 has been interesting. It's busy all the time (which I knew it would be). I think one of my biggest struggles is finding time for each of the boys individually. I think I will always have mommy guilt about that eventhough I know I'm doing my best. Leyton requires so much more attention than the other two, but the older two need my time just as much. We've been trying a few different things to balance this out.
1 and 2 MONTHS: figuring out sleep schedule, Leyton is a gassy baby and spits up a lot, starting to get stronger and hold his head up during tummy time close to 6 weeks :) 8 week stats: 20" - 40%tile, 8lbs - 40%tile, 14.5" head - 50%tile.
3 MONTHS: on a good schedule, starts to giggle, talk/squeal, loves to watch his brothers, wants to sit up and look around, loves the bumbo!, spent the night away from mommy/daddy for the first time, smiles and coos, continue to deal with clogged tear duct, loves his thumb
At 3 months Justin tried the standing on the hand trick which he did with all the boys (
(Brekan, Leyton, Coleman)
4 MONTHS: blows raspberries, laughs and coos, drooling lots!, grabbing at things, loves to chew on sophie the giraffe, pushes gear toy buttons, almost sits up on his own, found his toes, loves the exersaucer, very observant, already 17.5 lbs at 4.5 months! Sometime around this month his clogged tear duct went away - happy mommy and yay for no more eye drops!
5 MONTHS: LOVES to give wet slobbery kisses!, sits up on his own, enjoys exersaucer and watching brothers play outside
6 MONTHS: likes watching baby einstein DVD's (baby McDonald, Monet, and Neptune are his favorites), starting to jump in the jumper, happy baby most of the time, still figuring out night sleep.
7 MONTHS: Almost crawling, rocks back and forth and can get around by rolling and scooting across the floor, still up a few times at night, started solid foods and LOVES them!, laughs and giggles, special smiles for his daddy and brothers, loves to take his socks off in the carseat
8 MONTHS: Officially crawling - he has a 1 arm army crawl and he is FAST! Starting to get up on all fours and move forward too. Official first tooth....one on the bottom. We did cry-it-out and he's sleeping through the night (mostly) Lots of babbling/talking, LOVES puffs! Learning to drink water from a sippy cup but prefers a straw. Likes to splash and take baths with big brothers.
Letyon - you are my joy, my 3rd beautiful boy and I am so lucky that you are in our family. You make me smile everyday and remind me how much I enjoy being a mama. You are go-with-the flow, happy, and have a neat personality. Nothing really gets you riled up because I think you see how crazy your big brothers are and just accept the chaos that is our life right now. I'm so thankful for your thumbs up you gave me at your 20 week ultrasound when they showed us that you were a BOY! God had you specifically picked out for our family and I cannot wait to see the things He has in store for us and for you in this lifetime! My precious son, your mommy loves you more than you know. Even if it means there aren't as many blogposts with your monthly milestones on it. It's just a season.
