7 months old

Yep...that's right everyone - the little man is now 7 months old! Can you believe it? I sure can't (as I say with every monthly update about him). It's been a while since I have posted anything...we've been very busy around here and then Coleman came down with his first cold which turned out to be an ear infection, very runny nose, and pink eye in both eyes. ICK! So we've been dealing with a sick little guy on our hands, but he's handled it like a trooper. Actually, he's done quite well considering how miserable he looked.

Talk about a way to break a mama's heart!

So what new things has Coleman accomplished this month? Well...

Coleman received a GREAT and HEALTHY Dr. report when we took him for his 6 month check up. He was 26.25" long which put him in the 32 percentile (ouch!), 19.5 lbs which put him in the 67th percentile (YAY!) and has a 46.2cm round head....ready for this? 95th percentile! CRAZY BIG head...which must mean that he is very smart!

Coleman is now rolling rolling rolling everywhere! Tummy to back, back to tummy, lunging forward when he sits up...I think we're going to have a crawler on our hands soon so I better start child-proofing our home. He would still much rather hold our fingers and walk around, but with his new lunging forward technique I'm sure he'll figure out crawling soon. Oh, and he can grab onto our fingers while sitting down and pull himself up to a standing position - still not pulling himself up on furniture yet, but I'm sure that's right around the corner too!

One of the funniest things Coleman did this past month is develop a habit of "roaring" at us. I think he learned this from his baby noah dvd he watches when the lion comes on and roars at the elephant in one of the puppet shows. It was the cutest little phase he went through - and for some reason, he doesn't do it anymore...at least we have it on video (which I need to figure out how to post)!!

This past month the little guy got his first fever. He powered through his day by trying to play and be happy, but he really just wanted to be held. I couldn't figure out what the fever was from - and the next day I discovered that his second bottom tooth had poked through!! So now he has 2 bottom toofers which make his smile even more adorable!

Coleman loves to stick out his tongue and spit...it's quite funny. He is really into "talking" lately and is getting really good at 'bababababa', 'dadadadada', and some 'mamama' but more like an 'mmmmmm' sound. Maybe I should get a video and post it so you can see what I'm talking about. He loves to laugh and although we've gotten a belly laugh only a few times, he would rather shriek at high pitch volumes and cackle at us. Too cute!

Coleman has a new best friend - Harley! He loves to chase her around the house while holding on to our fingers. He loves to pet her (we're working on the word "gentle"), he even found her tail one day and almost ate it...but I caught him just in time! He sometimes will just stop what he's doing, look at Harley, and start laughing! Harley is being tolerant of this little monster and I know they are going to be such great buddies!

A new trick Coleman is doing these days is scrunching up his nose and breathing quickly when he is frustrated. Along with being frustrated and getting upset is when we mostly hear the sounds 'mmmmm' and 'mamama'. Oh boy! Which bring me to another new thing he has been doing - he doesn't want his mama to be anywhere except with him!! I can't walk out of the room or into another room for a short period of time without him getting upset. Thankfully he takes to his daddy just as well, but leaves the crying for me when I leave a room - even if his daddy is in the room with him. Oh boy! He is doing okay with other people holding him but is constantly checking around for me. Hopefully this is just a phase and we'll get through it quickly.

Coleman has found that his favorite sleeping position is one his side. He loves to snuggle up with his puppy when being rocked to sleep and as soon as we lay him down he rolls right to his side.

Coleman is a champ at drinking from his sippy cup! He has figured out how to tip it so he can actually drink the water. Now he has a fun little game where he will drink some water, spit it out, look at us and smile or giggle. It's quite funny, but I don't want this to become a habit. And don't even think about taking away the water in the sippy cup - you will endure high pitch volumes of screaming - you have to sneak it away or try and distract him with a new toy.

Not to many new foods were introduced this month because Coleman went through a week or two of showing no interest in eating. We just let it be and then started again a little later. Two new foods he is enjoying are mangoes and yogurt! On the subject of food - we are also transitioning Coleman into taking a bottle with formula. He is doing great! As you can see - mealtime is a mess at our house!

He even started feeding himself his bottle!

So lots has happened this past month and I hope that next month when I post we'll be having pictures of a crawling little man! =)

A few more pics of my growing baby boy...

At Daddy's soccer game! Notice how he is wearing his 'soccer' suit.
Playing 'peek-a-boo' with his toy basket!

  2. love all the pictures!

The crying about mama leaving thing and not wanting to be away from you is definitely a phase and definitely something I am familiar with!! Don't worry, it'll pass. :)

  3. I remember Tessa going through the phase when I first met her in Christmas of '07. I was surprised she let me hold/bounce her for so long so you could have a break. Of course, you were in the room where she could toatally see you the whole time!! We're hoping is passes soon. I love being loved, but sometimes it would be nice if I could leave the room without screaming!
